Why Holistic Food?
Holistic Puppy Food isn't just a fancy name. Holistic Puppy food is Healthy food than consists of human grade level ingredients, is free of chemicals, has been processed less and is more digestible. Better digestible food means less waste when your puppy goes potty. More importantly are the health benefits of a holistic food for both the stage of puppyhood and into a grown adult dog. A Truly Holistic Food does not contain unhealthy ingredients. We were alarmed about what we read that some commercial Puppy Food Brands can, and often do contain as fillers. We'll spare you the gross details.
The AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) label on the bag will inform you about the food value contents in the puppy food. You are looking for a balanced and complete nutritional value food, which includes the important life stages element within your puppy's food.. But buyer beware.... there is more to this than picking a label that says Holisitic. There is a lot of research on this subject and just because the bag says "Holistic", doesn't mean it what is implied. We truly suggest you visit one of the site links below to read more about this subject. We researched and found two reputable lists of "the Best Holistic Puppy Foods". We compared lists, found the seven that were on both lists and then picked "the only one" we could find at a popular retail store so it would be available to our families. Some of our past families get their food online or go to organic pet stores. Either way, this product made both lists, so we were comfortable choosing it for our puppies. As we made it through our research about the best ALL AROUND food for puppies, we carefully selected this brand. We fine-tuned our choice to what we believe is the best choice for our puppies' health, while allowing the food to be accessible easily to our families. Holistic Food is Very Important to us because we think it is ridiculous to have a puppy nurse and then not offer them the best quality and healthy food as the next step. We love our puppies and wouldn't want to risk their overall health, growth, and development. SO........ we kept reading, researching, and looking until we understood completely about what we were putting in our puppies' bodies!
We choose Natural Balance Synergy Formula, by Dick Van Patten's. This food is rated Human Grade! This food was selected as highly recommended by two different test groups. The great thing about this food it is able to meet from puppies to dogs's needs, so you are able to keep your puppy on the same food. This food is a little higher in price, but we think well worth it. Our puppies have better stools, and clearly gain better nutrition. We have tried many great Holisitc Foods, but have found some to be too rich for our puppies, or just plain haven't agreed with them. AND as an extra added bonus...
